The Spark Behind Brighter Tasks

Welcome to Bright Blog! ✨

What does it take to turn a spark into a glowing business? You’re about to find out! I’m thrilled to launch Brighter Tasks, my new venture as an Australian Online Business Manager (OBM). This blog is where I’ll share my journey, along with actionable tips, tricks, and insights to help your business shine brighter. Expect bite-sized business wisdom and book reviews, all designed to make your work-life easier and more rewarding.

But first, let’s start with the origin story. Where did Brighter Tasks come from?

The Spark Behind Brighter Tasks

I could tell you Brighter Tasks has been years in the making—and in some ways, it has. Over the past seven years, I’ve honed my skills in business management across marketing, events, project leadership, and operations. But the truth is, the idea of starting my own business came from a spark.

I could have kept freelancing, enjoying the comfort and predictability of familiar work. But when that spark lit up within me, it felt like a call I couldn’t ignore—a call to build something bigger, more meaningful, and more impactful. That spark is what I hope to bring to every business owner I work with: the light that rekindles their passion and helps their vision shine.

Who’s Behind the Glow?

Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Sylvia Sogari, a 34-year-old (as of writing this!) Online Business Manager based in Australia. My journey began in Italy, where I was born to Italo-Venezuelan parents. In my late teens I moved to Sydney, which I’ve called home ever since – notwithstanding also having lived in various countries around the world for periods of time due to my innate sense of wanderlust!

My own professional journey (besides the valuable years of waitressing in pubs and cafes to get me through uni!) began in the classroom as an ESL teacher in Sydney, working with immigrants from all over the world. Teaching gave me a profound sense of fulfilment – I loved being part of other people’s lives in a meaningful way, and cheering their achievements as their language skills and prospects improved.

But as much as I loved teaching, I felt the pull to make a broader impact. I wanted to combine my passion for education with my curiosity for strategy, business, and systems. That led me back to school to earn my MBA, and soon after, I found myself diving into marketing, event management, and project leadership roles at some of Australia’s top universities, including Kaplan Business School, the University of Newcastle and the University of Sydney.

From Higher Ed to Brighter Tasks

I loved my time in education – the work was exciting and I was able to get involved in some remarkable projects: national course launches, executive-level event management, project management for big changes, implementation of new systems and processes (especially during Covid!). Yet, something was missing. The work was exciting, but I longed for a more personal connection to the people and businesses I supported. I wanted to roll up my sleeves and work directly with passionate small business owners who, like my entrepreneurial parents, were building something remarkable. That’s when the idea for Brighter Tasks began to take shape.

What I Do Now

When I created Brighter Tasks, I wanted it to be more than just a business management service—I wanted it to be a partner in success, an ally! My goal was simple: to help busy business owners reclaim their time, achieve their big-picture goals, and fall back in love with the work they do.

At its core, Brighter Tasks is about empowerment. I believe every business owner deserves to feel supported, inspired, and free to focus on what they love most. Whether it’s implementing time-saving systems, planning a stress-free launch, or tackling a complex project, I’m here to make your workload lighter and your goals brighter.

But this isn’t just about systems and strategies—it’s about connection. I thrive on building relationships with my clients, understanding their unique challenges, and celebrating their wins. That’s why I bring my whole self to the table—my love for creative problem-solving, my passion for education, and my belief in the power of purpose-driven work.

And now that you know my story, time to share yours!
